Blue Devil Classic News !

The Blue Devil Classic is Here !

This is our twentieth year of hosting a marching competition for area bands. We are known among high school marching band competitors as good hosts; great facilities, fast concession stands, well-organized and well staffed. We take great pride in our ability to stage this contest as professionals.

At this time, twelve bands are registered. This translates into about 1,200 visitors counting band members, support staff and spectators. How many Mooresville Band Boosters does it take to put this show on ? The answer is All of them !

If you dont have a position yet, I urge you to call Staffing Chairpersons, Susan OKeefe (664-4007) or Leeann Brown (660-6444, Lexleeanne@yahoo.com). They will know what areas are lacking in helpers.

Cant work that day? You can help by making baked goods. Call Campi Johnson (664-5712, Majcpj@juno.com) or Lynn Morris (663-5323). Prepare individually wrapped brownies, cookies, trail mix, rice crispy treats or cake slices. They can be dropped off at the main gate on Classic Day or call for early drop-off. Baked goods are needed from as many families as possible. They are always a hot item.

Why do we have a Blue Devil Classic? While it is a great band fundraiser, it also provides a showcase for high school students talents. Competition performances encourage students to better their musical/marching skills and work as a team. As hosts, we dont compete, but our band members work as a team to help this fund-raiser succeed. As band boosters, we love to promote our Pride in Motion and this contest gives us a chance to show off our facilities and our spirit for our band.

Quick Reminders for Success on Blue Devil Classic Day

The Health Dept requires all persons in the concession stands to wear hats (or hair nets) !

Wash your hands before going to work in the concession stands, or after taking a break.

Leave purses, coats, and other personal items in the car or at home. There is no storage room for personal items in the concession stands.

No students handling money or driving the Gator or golf carts. Students can make popcorn, nachos, prep food, serve, park cars, fetch and carry.

Pick up name tag (gives volunteers free entry) and free drink ticket at visitors ticket booth upon arrival. Food items are 1/2 price for workers, except Chick Fillet. Chick Fillet is full price, due to high cost/low margins. One free drink to all workers with ticket.
